  DIAMOND PLANT CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARDED
  Windsor, Nova Scotia, January 28, 2002 -- Etruscan Resources Inc. (EET.TSE) and Mountain Lake Resources Inc. (MOA.CDN) jointly announced today that the contract to construct the Phase I diamond processing facility for the Ventersdorp Diamond Project has been awarded to Manhattan Mining Equipment (Pty) Ltd (“Manhattan”) of Johannesburg, South Africa.
  Manhattan is a highly qualified South African engineering firm specializing in the selection and sizing of mining equipment, refurbishment and manufacturing of processing plant components and provide full project management support through to installation and commissioning. Manhattan's staff includes a compliment of qualified engineers covering all aspects of electrical, mechanical and process engineering to ISO 9001 compatible quality management standards.   Under the terms of the Award of Contract, Manhattan will be responsible for the fabrication, construction and commissioning of the 1.2 million tonne per annum processing plant. The plant will comprise a 200 tonne per hour screening and scrubbing circuit with a 50 tonne per hour dense media separation (“DMS”) plant and final x-ray (Sortex) recovery room complete with a high security monitoring system. The Phase I plant for the Ventersdorp Diamond Project is scheduled to reach design capacity in the third quarter of 2002 with a projected annual output of 19,200 carats of gem quality diamonds. Etruscan now has two senior technical representatives on site to oversee project management and coordination with contractors.
  Gerald McConnell and Allen Sheito, respectively President and Chief Executive Officers of Etruscan and Mountain Lake jointly stated, “The delivery and commissioning of this first processing facility on budget and on schedule is fundamental to the success of this project. We are satisfied that the assurances provided by Manhattan in this regard, backed by their proven track record in the South African mineral sector will meet the expectations of our respective shareholders. Ventersdorp will be in commercial production by September of this year.”
