Good point. That might be an opportunity to get good technology relatively cheap. (but I wonder why there are no other companies interested?)

AMD could fab these (eventually with SOI) to achieve extremely low power consumption with high performance.

Don't you think fabbing $50 chips with leading-edge technology in Dresden (0.13 micron with SOI) would be overkill? Even if ASPs for these embedded processors are higher (which I doubt) they would be still lower than Thoroughbreds, Bartons or Hammers. Unless AMD isn't capacity limited in FAB30 I think they should fab them in FAB25 or at a foundry.
