I go through this "consideration" every three months. If it weren't for the lack of local sports coverage, I probably would go for it.

However, I like to watch the San Francisco Bay sports teams - the Warriors, 49er's, Oakland A's and Giants.

These are all carried by TCI/Cablevision (when it works!) but don't seem to be part of the Sports packages offered by USSB/Direct TV. And the Echostar system didn't offer ANY sports packages when I looked at them last year.

Speaking of Satellites, has anybody noticed a recent degradation of quality in the DSS transmissions form USSB/Direct TV? A friend of mine who has this system says he is now experiencing consistent artifacts due to "increased compression" for the MPEG-2 in order to carry more channels within the same bandwidth. He is becoming very unhappy with this.
