If AMD tried to milk licensing fees, it is possible that HT would be designed around. There is nothing particularly novel about HT except for it's implementation. I was able to guess most of the electrical specs just by seeing the speeds. Any engineer working in the industry could have done the same.

Then what makes HT superior to IBM's infiniband? If HT is not that complicated a design, wouldn't HT and Infiniband be pretty much the same thing? The article implies that HT will be the standard because it is better.......fwiw.
