Bush's speech, rhetoric; Gephardt's, substance. With a self-satisfied smirk on his face and gleam in his eye from his positive reception, GWBush finally looks the part of president, but his actions are rich boy who doesn't give a d--- about the common man. He didn't mention Enron by name nor did he mention campaign contribution reform. He talked about Americans volunteering in the Americorp and spreading our cheer and optimism to the rest of the world. We're bleeding here. Companies are failing daily, people are out of work, not just Enronites. Failsafes, safety nets and support systems have been eroded and undermined by the Bush Presidency. Poor and middle class people without medical insurance cannot even file bankruptcy to prevent indentured servitude to doctors and hospitals for themselves and progeny in perpetuity. Bush wants "social security reform" in the backwash of the Enron pension plan fiasco!.
Gephardt on the other hand named Enron and stated we need campaign contribution reforms, and he supports the social security system and us, the common people whose taxes are paid ostensibly to level the playing field for all, not to give gross violators of humanity like Enron the ability to partake in the banquet of tax rebates without contributing a cent.
I'm glad Bush feels like a man now, but he needs to think of the men and women who are the backbone of this country and do right by them. |
