bia,

, I simply can't FATHOM how anyone who is not hugely independently wealthy imagines that Republican....

It's not just the fraud, it's the general shift of the party to cater to the greed of the corporate interests and the lunacy of the religious right. An interesting mix of avarice and sanctimoniousness....... Fairly hilarious, if you look at it from afar.

But has it crossed your mind that the appeal of Republicanism is largely the result of brainwashing and constant spin and psychological manipulation? That's my take on it. The propaganda machine of the Third Reich has been elaborately studied and improved upon by the spinmeisters who provide the public face of the party. Appeals to patriotism, decency and a wholesome morality are the pabulum that is spoon fed to the gullible, while the real players know that the party is really about none of those things at all. It is about skimming, graft, logrolling and sophisticated corruption. Just like the Democrats.
