KLP,

Re: Especially interesting, as they didn't think they would watch the State of the Union address.....

It was a waste of time. I'm finding the panelists on the Charlie Rose Show, parsing the performance to be a lot more interesting.

Can you imagine a speech that didn't mention Enron or Osama Bin Laden, the two most cited names in the news in the past four months? Was I wrong to conclude Bush's words are an irrelevancy? Why is Dubya hiding from reality?

Though to his credit, except for the blatant saber rattling about Iran and North Korea, the President didn't seem terribly insane.

But, does he actually have a clue as to how to run an economy? You sure wouldn't conclude so from the dismissive and dull pronouncements he made after scaring the heck out of America about all the Homeland Security thrust.

And what's this stuff about the American Freedom Corps? Is he kidding? Trying to cater to the Kennedy liberals? Fawning to the bleeding hearts? What was that all about?

Anyway, he was playing the patriotism card to the hilt. Good for him. What else would we expect. As the saying goes, wrapping oneself in the flag is the last refuge of the scoundrel.

BTW, KLP, did you get any stock ideas from the speech? I didn't, unfortunately, because it was so hard to believe that his verbal assault on Iran or North Korea is anything more than bluster, he now wants us to volunteer 4,000 hours which is going to wreck the consumer thrust of the domestic economy and we're supposed to just roll over and let deficits sweep us away from now to eternity. I smell an opportunity in bond trading. Too bad it's an inside game.

Stupid is as Stupid does....
