Now we come to the problem of doctrine. Eternal security boxes in the deduction process. BIAS is a problem for all of us---me included---Your own words give a clue to the problem when thou sayest: "It is as though they never were sincere. There was no change of heart! Jesus professed He never knew them." I believe the parable of the sower illustrates what happens- Some start well, but the things of this world come along and they fall away. Assurance of salvation becomes a mystery and problem when we can supposedly "let God off the hook" by saying He never knew them. I see people like Popov and A.A. Allen perhaps being real charltons, but I have lead too many to Christ through the years to negate some of their walk---One person was an outstanding vibrant Christian, a soul-winner---talking up Christ to everyone he could. Off to College he goes---a Philosophy prof. got to him and now he says "I know longer believe the Bible. Would you say God never knew him? Jack
