While at first blush it sounds good to eliminate lobbyist access to politicians, it would be a bad idea. Lobbyists (including do-gooders) provide a lot of valuable information about their areas of expertise, that would be too difficult and expensive for Congress to get any other way.

The real solution is disclosure -- let the money flow, but disclose who it's coming from.
