Wrong.

We don't know any such thing.

You would like to think that's true because it is necessary for your argument.

But in war many things can happen, including reverses nobody expected. The stronger nation doesn't always win. (Think Vietnam.) It is possible that if the war had gone on the Japanese would have won it.

I'm glad they didn't. And since IMO dropping the bomb contributed to, if it didn't directly cause, the surrender, I'm glad Truman made the decision to drop it.
