Hi Everyone,

Since my last posts, I have been doing a little reading on Spreads. Specifically, I was interested in Calendar Spreads. I read the sections in McMillian's Options book. What interested me the most was the neutral calendar spread using calls.

Could someone share their opinion on what advantages, if any, there are to doing calendar spreads over simply writing calls or puts.

Seems like there are more commissions (2) I need to make up for in order to be profitable. Plus I would need to worry about closing positions before expiration.

Why would I want to do a calendar spread? It seems simpler and more profitable to just write calls or puts.

Thank you
