"Bush did a fantastic job with pointing out what we have done so far and what needs to be done."
Correction - his writers did. He doesn't write this stuff. No president has been more purely titular.
Gephart should also get better writers, since he probably writes it himself. His speech was anemic and irrelevant. The loyal opposition should have better "value added", whether criticizing or agreeing.
The name of the game is "Who can we fool, while looting the government and pretending to protect the people?". Both parties are guilty, but the this administration is much better at hiding the evidence under "national security", secret prez papers and meetings, and intel operatives in the press to keep facts in check.
"Homeland Defense" is a pitiful excuse for the truth, which is that the intel services already know who and where the terrorists are, which is why they blithely publicized the name, family, and town of the killed CIA operative. Which is specifically against policy and can be treasonous (except in cases of national emergency, i.e., "It's time to get more money!").
Real homeland defense will be provided by a lot of inspectors and a lot of alert citizens knowing who we deal with in our neighborhoods and businesses. Flight 93 is the truth of our homeland defense, where a few citizens provided more protection than the entire government.
Real protection will be provided by exposing all government activity - people, meetings, and dollars. Corruption in government and the military is more dangerous to our health than terrorists. |
