Wbmw,
Not letting up on this. A couple of years ago, Andy Bryant was talking on the CC after a quarter, as usual, when he said the next quarter guidance was slightly up to up. He immediately corrected himself to say flat to slightly up, which had been the press release guidance. I caught his little gaffe, nobody else did, and sure enough, that next quarter was better than the official guidance, looking good from the getgo. Back to AMD, If I show a new product release in a particular quarter on a roadmap, and I'm talking about it as if it's on schedule, I say "we are on track to ship in the 4th quarter", not "by the end of the year".
There is also something to be said for presentation skills. Anixter just doesn't come across as having any. Maybe if Jerry had said it in his way, you'd get more of the warm fuzzies, if you were an AMDer, that they were on schedule.
