9:10AM: If the action in the futures market is any indication, today's session could be lacking in excitement in terms of the movement of the major indices... Be that as it may, futures traders have maintained a modestly bullish bias for most of the morning... Presently, the S&P futures, +1.10, are 2.10 points above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 PMI is up 11 points... Two leadership stocks contributing to positive tone are Intel (INTC 33.86) and Procter & Gamble (PG 78.29)...
The former was upgraded by Merrill Lynch to near-term STRONG BUY from Buy; and the latter topped consensus Q2 EPS estimates and reaffirmed its FY02 guidance...
