The ones that I know that control the most power are very smooth, very polite. They aren't the ones who do the messy stuff. They aren't politicians, either. You almost never see their names in newspapers, and never, ever, ever connected with a scandal. And they are very, very, very rich.

The ugly mess is the ones who screw up, so it's easy to prove what they did. Journalists don't have entree into the homes of those with power. They mostly talk to disgruntled people who were not allowed to see very much.
Even the best friends and closest associates of someone with real power have no idea what they are doing.

That is what happens to the ones who screw up.
I can't tell you how to be one of them, but I do know that being very very quiet about what you are really up to seems to be a good thing. I think having power must be your sole goal, however.
My guess is that you like having fun too much. You don't want power, just money. People who only want money don't make as much money as people who want power. That's why you won't ever be one of them.
On the other hand, money is how they get people to do the things they want done, so if you can do the things they want done, that's a very good way to get money.
But the best way to get money is to own a business, or many businesses.
