They'll start making "smart" coffee pots, blenders, lawn mowers, stereo's, etc. in order to find more products to jam chips into.

INTC doesn't hold the edge in this type of chip, others do. They decided rather late to try to turn the company around and go after communications. Andy Grove himself says the challenge is not unlike the challenge the company had when it moved from memory chips to processors. That was a near death experience.
