Did you notice that the Israeli headlines going into Ben Eliezer's meeting with Mubarak said, "Mubarak Expected to Ask Israel to Ease Up on Arafat", but the headlines during the meeting said, "Mubarak Agrees to Press Arafat on Terrorism", a complete reversal? I think Debka is on to something here -- Mubarak has been told to get off the fence, and he's jumped into the American camp. How much support he will offer is another question, but he's in the American camp.
