"MSFT is comparable to a 1984 existence...Orwell"

i don't get that feeling. not especially about microsoft. seems to me that everybody wants to know stuff about you wherever you go and whatever you do. microsoft doesn't impress me as having the corner on that market.

i bought a stupid little auto part not long ago, i think it was a light bulb. turned out i discovered (without opening the package) that it was the wrong bulb. no problem, i'll take it back.

and that's the attitude they took, as well. no problem. but they also asked for my name, address and phone number during the refunding process.

i said you didn't get that when i paid for it, you're not getting that now.

they said it's company policy.

i said your policy is bad.

they said, if you want your refund, the computer needs to have your name and address and phone number.

i said okay. bob smith. the lady wrote down bob smith. i said 110 oak street. she wrote. i gave her the first seven numbers that came to mind for a phone number. she pushed the paper in front of me for a signature.

i said, will your company be contacting me?

she said they just want this info "for bookkeeping".

i had to check which name i gave her... bob smith...

then i signed that name and walked out.

i don't think she knew what i was doing, or if she did, she did not care.

microsoft ain't got nothing on some of these jokers.

:)
