"You're just mad because NPR has to have government subsidies to survive. Take the tax payer's money away from NPR and it would be history. "
Interesting POV. Here's the solution: publish every tax dollar, federal and otherwise, monthly on the web. Allow anybody to audit the flow of funds going into gov't, and out of gov't into the media, among other things.
The best use of gov't funds imo is improve the flow of information, from all sources, CIA, PBS etc., let them publish whatever they want, agreeable or disagreeable. What those funds are must be clearly published. I doubt they are.
If I'm angry, it's that I don't trust anyone who says "trust me, I'm from the government, national security, bad precedent and astrological signs prevent me from telling you who I met with, what money I get, even tho' I supposedly work for you. Now that I'm in office, I work for people you don't know, and you actually work for me, Mr. Taxpayer".
I have the distinct feeling the 40% tax rate coerced out of us for fed/state/local taxes is under control of people who are not servants of society. |
