Fine, let's leave morality out of it. In that case, it is much simpler. Our country can pretty much do what it wants because it has the strongest economy and military. If someone attacks us, we cream them, so that they cannot do it again (it is hard to attack when you are dead), or so that they will think twice (after all, there are other things they value that have not yet been blown to smithereens). Thus, we win. Do you like that better?
