WBW, Is volume and capital really Intel's last advantage? YES!!!! I would have to say yes to that :-) Let's see the list of other more important advantages that Intel has: 1. Process technology innovation 2. Design innovation 3. Awesome marketing 4. Management smarts 5. Efficient use of capital 6. Manufacturing stength (arguably related to volume) The list goes on with volume/capital at the bottom. I am glad that Jerry is content killing off Intel's last advantage with a fab coming online in 2005. First, Motorola, now UMC. How many semiconductor operations does he want to destroy?
