FWIW my technical read of the Nikkei tells me that that index is about to be hit by a tsunami in the month of February. The downward pressure that started in 4/2000 is about to bare down on prices once again. The other alternative of course would be some sort of breakout here but based on the structure of the charts I would bet we will see entirely new lows in the first qtr. of the year.
