About the song...

Introduced in October 1929, just prior to the stock market crash which heralded the start of the Great Depression, "Happy Days Are Here Again" achieved lasting fame and influence as the campaign song for Franklin Delano Roosevelt's run for the presidency in 1932. While "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" seemed to reflect the national anxiety about the Depression, "Happy Days", with its upbeat tempo and cheerful lyrics, promised that with a Roosevelt victory would come a new day and better times.
