Owning Redhat would be good for Sun, but to buy it at or above its current market cap would be a financially bad decision. As Linux is open source, they would be better off just coming up with "Sun Linux". That is what I believe they will eventually do, but due to stubborness, by the time they do it, more damage will have been done to the company.
