The USA is the United States (not central State) of America. Decentralized power is better than centralized power, less government is better than more government. That is the cornerstone of our Freedom and Liberty, from Athenian Democracy and the English Magna Carta, to the Declaration of Indendences, Aricles of Confederation and then the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights (10 Amendments), the LIMITATION AND RESTRICTION of the centralized power, absolute corrupting power of the King or central government, and guarantee of the rights and freedoms of individuals and local decentralized government. That is why American works and prospers, that is the cornerstone of Freedom, the rest of the government models are all about central power, the power of the few or elites and the slavery of the rest of us.
Another reason why I invest in PALM and HANDspring and other technologies that put power and capabilities into the very hands of INDIVIDUALS, I see it as a natural choice for free markets and free individuals, and that alone practically guarantees these companies profitability and growth of marketshare, from the natural market force inherent in individuals wanting to have that decentralized power and capability themselves in their hands, not letting it be controlled back at the office, back at the government, or the centralized server computer, etc. (This is just an illustration of how philosophy affects personal investment).
I see the world future being comprised of very high tech individuals, sharing ideas, speaking, emailing, conversing, associating with each other, empowering themselves, true decentralized democracy. These individuals will also have the political will and power to stop corrupt centralized communist controllers of one kind or another everywhere.
