Before you think I'm simply beating up on CPN, I'm not. I think it is "best of breed" of the IPPs. But I think an investor would really want to examine the bombshell that Robert McCullough of McCullough Consulting, Portland, OR dropped on the Senate Energy Committee earlier this week. He stated that the forwards contracts for Western wholesale electricity dropped 30% on December 3. The only factor in the market that could have caused this was the ENE bankruptcy. Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Sen. Ron Wyden are each pursuing this aggressively.

My point is that the California wholesale power market was rigged when Cal DWR negotiated the LT contracts. They can and will be broken. And the people of California will be given money back on the re-negotiated LT contracts. To the detriment of all the IPPs.

You can spin it as much as you'd like. You can't delude me into thinking that there's anything but a hit for CPN coming up with the re-negotiations. If you chose to self-delude, that's your business. But I simply can't find any traction with your argument.

All the best, Ray :)
