did you see the old mel brooks movie (can't recall the name right now, but on a bet he agreed to live like a homeless guy for a month)

That would be Life Stinks. Like many of Mel Brooks more recent movies, the critics found it pretty lame, but I always find enough brilliant humor to make them worth watching more than once.

My favorite scene from the movie: He returns to find that his legal team had conspired with his competitor to have him declared mentally incompetent. He asks plaintively how they could have turned on him after all the years they had spent together, the loyalty he had shown to them, etc. They just look at one another, shrug, and reply "We're lawyers".
