Then he said that he wouldn't address "rumors." Then he said that he could pass a standard security check dating back seven years. Finally, he said that he could've passed the security check in his father's White House -- fifteen years. Though he had to think before specifying whether he could've passed it then or now. Now, no matter what he says, the issue seems destined to dog him until the day he comes clean.

Look, Ish, to tell ya the truth, I couldn't care less whether Bush did or didn't engage in "youthful indiscretions". But I do agree with the Salon opinion that we have a despicable double standard in this country regarding drug use. The rich and celebrated can get away with it, with the authorities basically doing a wink and nod, while we fill our prisons with over a million poor people who are guilty of little more than trying to have a little harmless fun. Our drug policies are hypocritical, destructive and stupid.
