Verizon Meets Views On Flat Net
The No. 1 U.S. local phone firm earned 77 cents a share in Q4, flat with a year ago. Including a $4.1 bil charge, it lost $2 bil as it cut jobs and fixed Sept. 11-damaged networks. Sales rose less than 1% to $17 bil. Telecom suffered as businesses needed fewer phone lines and delayed upgrades. Verizon (VZ) expects '02 revenue to climb 3%- 5%. It reiterated profit estimates of $3.25, up 8%.
