John, Wow, New Englanders are always coming up with mythical villains when they commit crimes. I still remember the guy in Boston a few years back who said a black man shot him and then his wife. Turns out he shot his wife and then wounded himself to make it look like somebody else did it. There was nearly a lynch mob out on the streets on that one.

It reminds me of the old Bill Cosby routine from "To Russell My Brother Whom I Slept With." As kids, Russell and Coz bounce on their bed until they break it. When their Dad comes in with a belt to whip them, they say, "A man jumped in the window, broke our bed and then jumped back out. He said, 'ha, now your dad will whup you good.'" <G>

The sentence was pretty shabby. If it had happened in LA, she would have at least had a good beating to remember the night.
