Hugh, My idea of 'insurance' is to use the option premium that you recieve when you sell the options to provide a cash buffer against unfavorable moves. That is why you want to sell options with a few months in them. I think that is the main point, compared to buying the expensive options themselves and watching your money evaporate. You really need to be level 3 to make it work this way so you don't have to keep buying back the options - Good luck today, RH
