A lot of info comes straight from the Corporate Relations office
at Genrad. Their phone number is on their web page. I suggest anyone who owns a stock get in touch with the respective corporate office's for information.

Here is a good website if you want to find info about # of Ford
dealerships: dlrcon.com

(That is, if you have the patience to go through state by state and
count the number of dealerships). The number should be fairly accurate. I know that Ford is trying to consolidate some dealerships in areas to compete against a new threat and that dealerships come and go. But it should be pretty close.

I have two Ford dealership principles (they own dealerships) living in my neighborhood (They have much larger houses than mine). They know lots about dealership diagnostic tools. Also, ask some automotive technicians sometime about dealership diagnostic tools, if you have an opportunity.

Ford has something like 4,000 SBDS units at U.S. dealerships at an average cost of $45,000 (that is $180M total) plus monthly fees. That is a lot of cabbage. GM's Tech-2 was only about 2K and Ford's NGS tool is around 1K (info available from dealership tool sales catalogs). So I would expect that WDS would be somewhere in between.

I would think that if Chrysler is coming out with a hand-held scan tool that maybe Hickok would be a front runner for that since that is what NGS is. But since Genrad announced that they are/will/have developing an OBD-II scan tool, they may also have a chance - if that is what the Chrysler contract is for.

Regards,
Jeff

P.S. Most of my posts have been rantings about idiot institutional analysts/managers.
