Bill, have you ever thought about hauling trash for a living? Didn't you once say you knew John Gotti? Trash hauler Waste Management Inc. warned yesterday that fourth-quarter earnings would fall short of Wall Street estimates, prompting Moody's to turn negative on the company's investment outlook and sending its stock sliding almost 15 percent. The company forecast fourth-quarter earnings, before one-time items, of 30 cents or 31 cents a share. Analysts had forecast 33 cents to 36 cents a share. The company's stock fell immediately after the warning to as low as $24.60, and closed the day down $3.69, or 12.8 percent, at $25.13 on the New York Stock Exchange.<<
