Yes. It was I who suggested to him that he redesign his database so that each post had and static absolute record number, instead of the thread/sequence ordinal number scheme. It seemed obvious to the old COBOLer in me. :-)

True, it impacted the art of grubbing, but it also eliminated a lot of confusion about URLs that wound up pointing to the wrong post.
