COMPAQ STOCK GOING TO $20 AND IBM TO $120. <Big 5 andersen consulting going to -$20> ++++ COMPAQ SAYS EUROPE IT SERVICES TO GROW 10 PCT PLUS By Lucas van Grinsven LONDON, Jan 25 (Reuters) - U.S. computer company Compaq said Friday its computer services unit could increase European sales by more than 10 percent in 2002, a year the company expects to be lacklustre for the computer industry. "It's realistic for us to be expecting high single-digit to low double-digit growth in services this year, across all service segments," Tom Iannotti, Europe's general manager of Compaq Global Services, told Reuters in an interview. This increase would come at the same time that overall corporate information technology budgets are set to rise only marginally in 2002. Corporate customers will probably spend more on outsourcing and services as they cut back on buying software and computers to tackle projects in house, Ianotti said. PC PRICES 4Q INCREASED UP 6% - Caviar tastes on a PC pauper's budget By John G. Spooner Staff Writer, CNET News.com January 17, 2002, 1:00 PM PT The high-end PC is coming back in style. Despite continued economic gloom, anecdotal evidence indicates that PC buyers purchased more high-end desktop models in the final three months of 2001 than in recent quarters, pointing to a mini-renaissance in the PC lifestyle. The buyers often paired those features with flat-panel displays--which doubled in sales in 2001--wireless networking equipment, and DVD recordable drives. At retail, sales of notebooks, more expensive than desktops, are also on the rise. "Defying all expectation and gravity, our average price for consumer desktops went up in the fourth quarter" by about 6 percent, said Mike Winkler, executive vice president of Compaq Computer's global business units.
