j6p will go down with the ship. they're conditioned to stay in the game and hold through tough periods. slowly, and sometimes with brief rapidity, mutual funds will belly up. that's how johnny6p will eventually be underinvested. and that my friend, is a long way off. history does not have the mutual fund complex, so comparisons are difficult to make. i believe there are over 10,000 funds. they are as prone to the boom/bust cycle as anything else.
