Laz, I propose that there is a difference between what's "okay," and what SI thinks is its business to regulate or take action on. Personally, I would be very displeased to have any PM of mine, however innocuous, posted publicly without my express permission.
I would not argue that for one moment. I would consider someone who posted a PM of mine without my express permission an SOB and an enemy. As you know, I treat PMs sent to me as privileged information between the sender and I and I expect mine to receive the same respect. I will not post any from you, CH, or anyone else without their knowledge or permission.

I was repeating SI policy as it had been told to me. And the issue here was claims made about the contents of PMs and challenges to produce the PMs. In these circumstances, SI policy becomes important.

I assume that most people instinctively abide by that protocol.
I would certainly hope so.

Anyone who did otherwise would be looked on askance, I think (and would find they got very few PM's!)
And justifiably.
