It hasn't been eliminated. If someone goes bankrupt it becomes the lender's problem and subtracts from the bank's net worth.

If a dotcom goes bust and can't pay the bank, it's just spreading the bad news from the bubble economy to the real economy. The recession is only just starting. Semiconductor sales down from November to December. That news came out during the SuperBowl. I wonder why they chose that timing?
