Eric, Guns at home get stolen in breakins unless they are in vaults. Guns at home get used on wives, kids, moms, pops, neighbours.
Gun os police and trained security people are rarely used this wa.
So I can see not letting hand guns in private hands.
Long guns that cannot be concealed are less dangerous since they cannot readily be caarried in a concealed mannr, even though the accuracy and range of rifles makes them potentially more dangeroues. Shotguns are similar to long guns, but do not carry far so are less dangerous that rifles and hard to hide.
So I think allow long guns, with permits and cross checks to crime/nut files in all states. Do not allow handguns without exhaustive cross checks as well as valid reasons.
No system satisfies all.
