Hi, Mephisto! I'm worried. But basically okay.

Thank you for asking!

This link is so great as are all of yours here. I really appreciate (and I know I'm not the only one) all of your time and effort to bring news from all over the world right here to us on this board. Thank you.

Geez. I lived in Houston in early '80s (worked for TXN there and here in Austin -- 150 miles northwest distance) ...

Boom times then. The bust of the mid/late 80s seemed much less significant to me, but I was 'insulated' then as high-tech employed and later specialized in my own free-lance biz.

I can just imagine the 'despair,' as a editor/reporter of 'Texas Monthly' appearing on many news shows lately -- I keep missing his name -- he's based here in Austin -- puts it.

I have friends in Houston who are not directly connected in any way with ENE ... spent a couple of days there over the holidays ... but the impact is yet to come, IMO ... when real estate 'goes,' as it's BOUND TO, don't you think? -- nationally -- there goes the rest of the people. The PEOPLE. Service sector -- retail sector -- construction/maintenance i.e. A/C, landscaping, maintenance small biz ...

Sigh. Sorry. Mind-boggling and hugely depressing to think where 'all of this' is going.

I try to look every day at the online Houston Chronicle, which I think is doing an EXCELLENT job of covering from global-to-curb impact of the ENE effect/example of what is happening to the U.S. economy.

Here's today's front page with lots of interesting links ... apologize if it's redundant ...Updated a few minutes ago (11 pm CST) ..
