It sounds as if you think that England's first taste of gun control was done in the 90's. That's not the case at all.....my understanding is they have had different forms of gun control in place for a long time.

One of the links I provided you discusses the impact of gun control legislation that was put into place in England as early as 1920. The author's findings run counter to those of gun advocates who claim that the gun control laws are ineffectual.

He [the author] further points out that England was one of the few developed nations of that time that saw its crime rate go down in the twenties [after implementation of a gun control laws]. Then and now, the US was near the top of those countries in terms of gun deaths. Sadly, the US rate has gotten much worse while the other countries have seen some improvement.
