Tokyo, Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Japanese domestic shipments of personal computers fell 9 percent to 2.52 million units in the three months ended Dec. 31, with sales slumping 15 percent to 515.9 billion yen ($3.9 billion), an industry group said.

PC shipments in 2001 declined 2 percent to 11.28 million units, with sales falling 10 percent to 1.89 trillion yen, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association said.

The association maintained its earlier estimate for PC shipments in Japan for the year ending in March of 10.6 million units, 12 percent down from the year-ago period, the group told reporters.
