I'm aware of Englands history of gun control and how we had to re-arm them for WWII after they had disarmed themselves following WWI.

I can't believe, given the changes in crime and criminals that much can be learned from the crime statistics of the twenties.

I was simply pointing out that the numbers in three years since the 1997 descision to remove guns from the hands of the law abiding that lawless gun crimes numbers have grown. Atleast, I had assumed they had disarmed themselves for another purpose than to become helpless victims.
