Intel, China develop new compiler for PCs 09:45 05-FEB-2002 The Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Intel Corp announced the production of a new research compiler software for personal computers, known as Code Resource-Open IA-64, which may be considered for use in Intel's next generation mainstream chips, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Xinhua quoted Intel vice president Patrick P. Gelsinger as saying the product will provide technological help for Intel in micro-processor architecture. He said he believes the product will also have a far-reaching influence on China's central processing unit (CPU) development program.
