Tyco: An opportunity just waiting to happen? Not likely, although the debt downgrade certainly hurt. Tyco's balance sheet has been gone over with a fine tooth comb by outsiders several times now. If that's the most they can come up with, there could be a relief rally ahead. There's a world of difference between using derivatives and off-balance sheet partnerships, and an accusation of not being public enough every time Tyco buys a small company. Tyco is a thriving company that is going to need to clarify and simplify its accounting to meet heightened demands for transparency. Buy it!
