J.D. Edwards Standardizes Global Development Process On Starbase Collaboration Suite;

Starbase Technology Will Be The Foundation To Connect Team of More Than 1,100 Software Developers

February 05, 2002 08:24:00 AM ET

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2002--Starbase Corp. SBAS, the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for the development and management of code and content for enterprise and e-Business applications, today announced that J.D. Edwards JDEC, a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the connected economy, has selected the Starbase Collaboration Suite as the standard for their global development organization.

J.D. Edwards' initial purchase of Starbase's StarTeam Elite, CaliberRM and CaliberRM Professional together with Mercury Interactive Corp.'s TestDirector will support their distributed development organization of more than 1,100 people. The integrated Starbase solution will manage the end-to-end development lifecycle of requirements, configuration, change management, testing and test management for J.D. Edwards supply chain management, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.

"Starbase offered the flexibility and scalability we needed to support our growing application development requirements," stated Michael Madden, group vice president and chief technology officer, J.D. Edwards. "We believe that by implementing a comprehensive set of software lifecycle tools and a requirements-driven development process we will equip our organization with the engineering and management capabilities necessary to achieve increased speed and improved software quality, which directly benefits our customers."

"Our ability to provide a complete lifecycle solution focused on gaining control over the entire development process was clearly one of the key differentiators between Starbase and the competition," stated James H. Smith, executive vice president, Starbase Customer Group.

"It is our philosophy to provide technology solutions that will increase the return on every development dollar our customers spend. Ensuring that everyone in the team understands and is building and testing approved business requirements can save extensive application rework and therefore dollars."

Continued Smith: "The Starbase Collaboration Suite provides extensive support for a requirement driven development process that enables our customers to achieve this savings. We look forward to working with the team at J.D. Edwards as they deploy the Starbase solution enterprisewide."

Utilizing StarTeam Elite, CaliberRM and CaliberRM Professional, as well as Mercury Interactive's TestDirector, the J.D. Edwards Product Management and Development organizations will implement an integrated management process for the development of their core business software solutions. The new development process is designed to promote communication and collaboration among developers and managers, thereby increasing productivity and enhancing the teams reporting capability.
