Well, that's actually the serial port (that the modem connects to) speed. I'd suggest leaving it at 115.2, because a 57.6kbs port speed might actually slow you down if you get a really good connection to the telco.

Look at it this way. You get a 52kbs connection to the telco, and the compression software in the modems are able to compress the data to a 1.5:1 ratio. So, your modem can effectively move 78kbs (52+26) of data, but you've limited the port speed into your computer to 57.6kbs. That's an extreme example, but you get the idea.

I suggest canning the whole thing and getting a broadband connection... if you can! <ggg>
