Jorj,
From The Cambridge International Dictionary of English:
moron noun [C] INFORMAL DISAPPROVING a very stupid person
Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary is more verbose:
Main Entry: mo·ron Pronunciation: 'mOr-"än, 'mor- Function: noun Etymology: irregular from Greek mOros foolish, stupid Date: 1910 1 : a mentally retarded person who has a potential mental age of between 8 and 12 years and is capable of doing routine work under supervision 2 : a very stupid person
Now, Jorj, I want to express my disappointment in your post here. My friends in the American Mensa Society would get a good laugh over your inapt misdirection in the matter.
My post, to which you made reference, was baiting, nasty, bombastic, assaultive, unpleasant, confrontational, polemical and distressing. But it was not moronic.
Since I have no interest in a race to bottom, I'll refrain from telling you what I really think, and instead say that I'm grateful that you've contributed to the SI community. Some of your efforts are, as with my own, better than others.
Cordially, Ray |
