"Can someone, someone other than CH, please explain to me, by what rationale, the surviving family memebers of 9/11 attack are entitled to anything, other than normal pensions of firefighters or policemen killed on the job?"

Mourners all over the country donated money to the Red Cross and other relief organizations with the specific requirement that it go to the families of the victims.

The Red Cross is now saying it has received entirely too much money to qualify as relief to this group. They would like to give it to other people needing relief but can't.

I can't imagine a fire fighter not having a substantial life insurance policy. College scholarships have also been set up for the children. It does not look like the survivors will be destitute. I am sorry for their loss. The money is more about us than it is about the families of the fire fighters.

What is the government pitching in?
