It was an illusion. A bubble. A mania. Made possible by that evil Ronnie Reagan who won the Cold War and made possible the Peace Dividend for Clinton to squander like a drunken sailor, and Bill Gates & Co. (and Grove and Dell and others) who dramatically improved our productivity so we'd have time to play more golf.

Of course, Clinton's ego made him try to kill that golden goose, and he nearly did.

Yes, we'll all be grateful to Bill for what he did for our nation in the '90's. Bill Gates, that is.
